| Upon
arrival to Río Sarapiquí, your friendly and
professional guides will outfit you with lifejackets and paddles
and give you a safety orientation for the river. You will
begin rafting where the Class III trip finishes and continue
down to Puerto Viejo. In some parts of the river you will
pass green pastures and farmland, and delight in the sight
of local children frolicking along shore.
The lower half of the river
winds along the borders of the beautiful, protected La Selva
Biological Reserve - thick with lush vegetation, towering
trees, vines and flowers. Along the riverbank, you'll stop
for a luscious buffet picnic lunch prepared by your guides.
Then it's back on the river enjoying the peace and quiet of
the rainforest, and to watch iguanas, turtles and numerous
species of birds.
After finishing rafting,
you'll drive 15 minutes to our rest-stop where you can change
into dry clothes and enjoy a cold or hot drink. On the return
drive to San José, you'll enjoy remarkable views of
Braulio Carrillo National Park and Irazú Volcano.
